Legends
In days of old a legend whispered upon the morning breeze,
Of five salty sea dogs who scourged the seven seas
They the rode the waves like gallant steeds upon their mighty vessel,
Their blades ever ready to tear bone from muscle
From port to port they plundered, And so the songs were sung
Of how they looted all the gold and drank all the rum,
So with fear the people cried, Thus the legends were born
Of those who fly the Jolly Roger At the crack of dawn
Armadas fell to the onslaught of their cannon fire
Never taking prisoners their ships now funeral pyres
They stole away into the night upon the blackened sea
Their bounty ever growing names shrouded with infamy
For those alive who can recall the origin of this tale
Remember those who terrorised the seven seas they sailed
Their lives are done cast adrift floating in shallow waters
Their legends still striking fear into the hearts of your daughters
And drank all the rum!
