2009 reissue of this two-fer from the Detroit rockers containing their first two album son one disc: The Romantics and National Breakout, both released in 1980. With 'What I Like About You', from their debut album, The Romantics carved out a place for themselves in Pop history. But this Power Pop foursome from Detroit wasn't done there. The Romantics, a four and a half star guilty pleasure, is filled with high-energy, guitar-driven, three-minute classics. National Breakout follows suite but expands the Romantics trademark Power Pop sound with a hint of Garage Rock, Surf and Motown. This is definitely the Romantics at their best! 22 tracks. Universal.
